Position Summary
The Head, Facilities and Events Management is responsible for the operational excellence, profitability, and global-standard presentation of WTC Accra’s physical assets and event portfolio. This role leads the management of all facilities including office spaces, meeting rooms, and conference halls ensuring they operate as revenue-generating, world-class venues. It also oversees the design, planning, and delivery of trade shows, exhibitions, and conferences that strengthen WTC Accra’s reputation as Ghana’s leading platform for international business engagement. The role requires a highly organized, commercially minded, and hands-on leader who can balance facility optimization with strategic event development, ensuring that both functions drive visibility, revenue, and long-term growth for WTC Accra.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic and Operational Leadership
- Develop and implement an integrated Facilities and Events Strategy aligned with WTC Accra’s business objectives.
- Transform WTC Accra’s facilities into a profit centre by maximizing occupancy, tenant satisfaction, and brand standards.
- Plan and deliver a flagship calendar of events including conferences, trade shows, and exhibitions that elevate WTC Accra’s market position.
- Introduce operational systems, vendor frameworks, and service standards that reflect international WTC benchmarks.
- Ensure full alignment between facilities operations, event delivery, and WTC Accra’s six business pillars.
- Functional and Technical Duties
- Oversee all aspects of facilities management including maintenance, leasing, tenant relations, safety, and utilities oversight.
- Supervise space utilization, refurbishment, and branding to maintain world-class presentation and compliance with World Trade Centers Association’s
- Manage booking systems and event logistics, ensuring smooth coordination across tenants, delegates, and visitors.
- Lead the end-to-end execution of events from concept and design to vendor contracting, sponsorship acquisition, and on-site delivery.
- Monitor cost efficiency, sustainability practices (energy, waste, certification), and operational performance across all assets.
- Relationship Management and Collaboration
- Act as the main liaison with SSNIT (building owner), Broll Ghana Ltd. (property manager), and key service vendors.
- Coordinate closely with the Heads of Memberships, Marketing, Travel & Tours, and Trade & Investment Services to deliver integrated events and shared-service efficiencies.
- Cultivate partnerships with ministries, embassies, chambers of commerce, and corporate sponsors to host high-impact programs.
- Administration and Reporting
- Develop annual budgets, forecasts, and business plans for facilities and events.
- Track event performance metrics (attendance, ROI, satisfaction) and facility KPIs (occupancy, revenue, maintenance costs).
- Maintain compliance documentation, insurance records, and vendor contracts.
- Prepare and present quarterly reports to the Managing Director and Board on performance, profitability, and risks.
- People Leadership
- Lead a multi-disciplinary team including facilities officers, events coordinators, and technical staff.
- Foster a results-oriented, customer-focused culture emphasizing professionalism and continuous improvement.
- Provide mentorship, training, and performance reviews to enhance staff capability and retention.
Qualification and Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Business Administration, Event Management, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 8–10 years of professional experience in facilities and event operations, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven ability to manage large buildings, conference venues, or mixed-use facilities to international standards.
- Demonstrated success in planning and delivering large-scale corporate or trade events.
- Strong vendor management, budgeting, and negotiation skills.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
- High level of commercial awareness, strategic thinking, and operational discipline.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, facility/event management systems and AI tools.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a dynamic, high-profile environment.
