Trade Officer
Reports to: Head, Trade and Investment Services

Position Summary
The Trade Officer supports the development and execution of WTC Accra’s trade promotion initiatives, investment facilitation activities, and business support services. The role is responsible for conducting market research, preparing trade-related documentation, coordinating missions and B2B engagements, and supporting investor and exporter enquiries. The position requires strong analytical ability, excellent communication skills, and the capacity to manage multiple assignments within a fast-paced, high-standard international business environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic and Operational Leadership
- Support the implementation of WTC Accra’s trade and investment programmes under the direction of the Head, Trade & Investment Services.
- Assist with developing sector briefs, partner profiles, and trade intelligence to strengthen mission design and stakeholder engagement.
- Contribute to planning and coordinating inbound and outbound trade missions, investment forums, and sector-specific roundtables.
- Functional and Technical Duties
- Conduct market research, trade data analysis, and competitor benchmarking for priority sectors.
- Prepare concept notes, background briefs, draft proposals, and documentation for missions, partnerships, and investor engagements.
- Support the execution of B2B matchmaking activities, maintaining accurate records of meetings, outcomes, and follow-up actions.
- Assist with managing trade-related enquiries from businesses, investors, and public-sector institutions.
- Maintain updated databases on companies, opportunities, and mission participants.
- Relationship Management and Collaboration
- Engage with local and international companies, business associations, chambers, embassies, and government agencies as part of trade and investment facilitation efforts.
- Support collaboration with departments across WTC Accra, including Memberships, Travel & Tours, Marketing & Communications, and Finance, to ensure coordinated programme delivery.
- Contribute to strengthening WTC Accra’s relationships within the WTCA network and with development partners.
- Administration and Reporting
- Prepare meeting notes, reports, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain organised records of trade engagements, missions, client interactions, and partner correspondence.
- Assist in producing presentations, briefing packs, and summary reports for the Managing Director and Head of Department.
- People Leadership
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across departments to support cross-functional initiatives and ensure delivery of trade and investment objectives.
- Uphold professionalism, responsiveness, and high standards of execution in all engagements.
Qualifications and Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Business Administration, Economics, Development Studies, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2–4 years of relevant experience in trade promotion, investment facilitation, business development, or research within a corporate, government, or development organisation.
- Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to interpret trade data and produce well-structured briefs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational ability and capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- High level of professionalism, cultural awareness, and stakeholder engagement capability.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, AI digital tools, research tools, and CRM or data management systems.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and execute tasks with attention to detail.
