Position Summary

The Head, Travel & Tours leads WTC Accra’s wholly owned subsidiary, World Trade Centre Travel & Tours, overseeing all strategic, commercial, and operational aspects of travel management. The role is responsible for business growth, partnership development, and delivery of premium travel services for corporate clients, international delegations, and trade missions. This position requires a commercially driven and service-oriented professional with strong leadership, industry knowledge, and an ability to manage both day-to-day operations and long-term strategic growth. The Head, Travel & Tours works closely with the Managing Director and other WTC Accra executives to ensure travel services uphold the Centre’s international brand standards and contribute to organizational revenue goals.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Strategic and Operational Leadership
  • Develop and execute the strategic business plan for WTC Travel & Tours in line with WTC Accra’s overall goals.
  • Identify, negotiate, and manage partnerships with airlines, hotels, logistics companies, and visa agencies.
  • Create and promote customized travel packages for trade missions, conferences, and inbound delegations.
  • Oversee the subsidiary’s financial performance, including budgeting, reporting, and profitability tracking.
  • Introduce innovations in digital booking, client experience, and corporate travel solutions.
  1. Functional and Technical Duties
  • Manage all travel operations, including ticketing, reservations, visa facilitation, and itinerary planning.
  • Ensure compliance with Ghana Tourism Authority, IATA, and World Trade Center Association regulations.
  • Oversee vendor selection and service-level agreements to ensure consistent quality.
  • Supervise travel documentation, reporting, and customer database management.
  • Establish internal controls for travel bookings, payments, and customer feedback management.
  1. Relationship Management and Collaboration
  • Act as the key liaison between WTC Accra and its travel partners, corporate clients, and government agencies.
  • Collaborate with the Heads of Memberships, Facilities & Events, Marketing, and Trade & Investment Services to create integrated service offerings.
  • Coordinate executive and delegation travel arrangements for WTC Accra leadership and international partners.
  1. Administration and Reporting
  • Develop and maintain financial records, contracts, and operational documentation.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly management reports on performance, profitability, and client satisfaction.
  • Manage compliance, insurance, and risk mitigation processes.
  • Oversee internal audits and support financial reconciliation and reporting to the Managing Director.
  1. People Leadership
  • Lead and mentor the Travel & Tours team to deliver efficient and customer-focused service.
  • Set performance standards, training programs, and career development pathways for staff.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement in service delivery.
  • Foster an environment of innovation and operational excellence.

Qualification and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Tourism, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Professional certification (IATA, UFTAA, or equivalent) required.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in the travel and tourism industry, with at least 3 in a senior leadership position.
  • Proven experience managing a profitable travel or corporate travel business.
  • Strong negotiation, business development, and customer relationship management skills.
  • Solid knowledge of GDS systems (Amadeus, Sabre), digital booking platforms, Microsoft Office Suite and AI tools.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets and assess business performance.
  • High level of professionalism, adaptability, and team leadership.
