Position Summary

The Finance Officer supports the financial management and administrative functions of WTC Accra by maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, preparing reports, and assisting with audits and budgeting. The role ensures compliance with financial policies, supports the Head of Finance and Administration, and contributes to operational efficiency across departments.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Strategic and Operational Leadership
  • Support implementation of financial policies, controls, and reporting systems.
  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of all financial transactions.
  • Provide financial data and analysis to support decision-making.
  1. Functional and Technical Duties
  • Process payments, invoices, and journal entries.
  • Reconcile bank statements and vendor accounts monthly.
  • Maintain petty cash and ensure adherence to expense policies.
  • Assist in payroll processing and statutory deductions (PAYE, SSNIT, Tier 2, etc.).
  • Support budget preparation and expenditure monitoring.
  • Maintain filing systems for vouchers, contracts, and audit documents.
  1. Relationship Management and Collaboration
  • Liaise with banks, vendors, and service providers for payment and reconciliation matters.
  • Collaborate with administrative and departmental teams for expense tracking and reporting.
  • Support audit and compliance engagements.
  1. Administration and Reporting
  • Prepare monthly financial summaries and reports for management.
  • Maintain accounting data in QuickBooks or equivalent software.
  • Ensure all records comply with accounting standards and internal controls.
  1. People Leadership
  • Provide support to interns or junior accounting assistants as assigned.
  • Promote accountability, integrity, and teamwork within the finance unit.

Qualification and Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in accounting or financial operations.
  • Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and accounting software.
  • Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage), Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and AI tools.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently.
